Iraq Minister of Transport announces fleet expansion with four modern aircraft

The Iraqi Minister of Transport, Nasser Hussein Al-Shibli, announced today that four modern aircraft will be added to Iraq’s air transport network within the current year. He also stated that the Civil Aviation Authority is now responsible for holding non-governmental carriers accountable. Iraq’s air transport fleet owns 33 aircraft, and Al-Shibli said four more are scheduled to be acquired this year, bringing the total to 37 aircraft.

In an earlier statement, the Transport Minister confirmed the conclusion of a contract with Boeing for more advanced planes.
